Houston Astros acquire Trey Mancini from Orioles in 3-team trade
The Houston Astros acquired the first baseman, Trey Mancini, from the Baltimore Orioles in a three-team
trade on Monday, which transferred fast outfielder Jose Siri to the Tampa Bay Rays. The Astros were
in the market for a 1st baseman, with Yuli Guriel struggling this season. Gurrill, 38, hit .319 to win the American League
League batting title in 2021 but has hit just .243 this year with seven homers and 28 RBIs.
Mancini, who has been in the lineup on designated hitters 51 times this season, could also fill that role for the
with Michael Brantley indefinitely with a shoulder injury. The 30-year-old Mancini has been
hitting .268 in 92 matches this season with 10 homers and 41 RBIs. He entered the 2016 Major with
Baltimore and batted .270 in 701 games with the Orioles with 117 homers and 350 RBIs. Houston also got minor league
right-hander Jaden Murray from Tampa Bay. The Astros sent Siri to the Rays and minor league right-hander Chase McDermott to the Orioles.
